Fish for 30 gallon freshwater

Normally my first response to any thread is done without reading everyone elses response first, so excuse me if I repeat anything already mentioned....Before switching to bigger, toothier /\/\onsters, I was the number one Oscar fan(probably for about 12 years in fact)....Then came the internet and the countless ways of obtaining even more man-ly fish.....Anyways....I've personally seen Oscars raised from 1 inch to 10 inch in 55g setups, so yes it's possible.....BUT....The deformities of the spine was apparent on all these fishes....In conclusion, I'd say a minumum of 100g is good enough for one oscar for life....COme on now, you want your "O" to thrive, so save your McDonalds money and purchase a 100g for that Oscar....Thanks
 
I was talking about the jack demsey complete minimum but i got the oscar any way.Sorrry i cant take pictures that good.I think he should be alright in there.Fan tail albino pretty good sized to start with.

Your 30 gallon will be okay for a few months, but start saving for a 75 gallon minimum for your oscar. Oscars grow fast and it'll outgrow your 30 gallon quickly. If you don't get it into a larger tank it will eventually become stunted and probably die.

If only it was going into a 55!! Dude seriously that should not be kept in a 30 gallon tank, if that is even a 30 gallon tank. O's get 14" the depth on that cannot be more than twelve. He is going to swim a bodly length and then try and turn around. The person at your LFS must be a total moron to tell you that 2 O's can be kept in a 30 gal. You should really take it back and buy something else for that tank. It's gonna suck to be that fish if you don't. Buy a 75 gallon at least he'll be able to turn around it.

Upgrade, upgrade, upgrade.....Sooner the better.....It's pretty much like having a handicap baby, no offense to anyone, but why the hell are you gonna showoff a retarded fish....From a Keeper to another Keeper, retarded fish represent retarded owners...Placing a 4-6 inch, young monster in a small tank for more than 2 months will greatly highten the chances of a stunt-crooked spine...At this size, the body is growing rapidly, and without the adequent swimming/excercise space, he cannot stretch out his spine to the fullest....Judging your monster potential by the size of your tanks, you might think of downgrading your keeper status to tetras and dwarf gouramis for now...Small tanks=Small fish......BTW, nice Oscar.....

That fish would have probably been fine in there but if you think your so sure about it i took your advise and traded him hope your right i got the jack demsey is this the only fish i should put in the tank or could i add one more or maybey a few convicts.

Reatarded fish my fish are not retarated there probebly nicer than the ones you got i can take some advise but come on retarted fish.Everybodys not born with a silver spoon and can offord a 1000 gallon tank besides ive already got a 55 satlwater tank that drained me.
 
LOL.....I'm simply pushing the point that a Oscar needs a big tank....It upsets me because I have a friend that owned a store here...Every week someone would come in and try to trade off some bent up monster...Obviously these are not saleable, so he turns them down....Which leads to the thought of where these bagged fish might end up....Local stream/lake, someone's dumpster, or cut up fillet for the owners other fish, who knows....Maybe if these people were to of spent a little more time on their tank shopping first, this would'nt have been the issue...I just don't want to walk around someday with a MonsterKeeper T-shirt and have some loser come up to me and jokingly blame me for their monster's stunted growth....That 55 should be suitable for another 6 months tops, depending on how much you feed him....You should think about removing all the decoration and most of the gravel, this will give him more room to swim in and less room for food/waste to accumilate.....;)
