Fish for 36 gallon tank

Convict, jewel, or acara are good options.
None are particularly predatory, but a con or jewel can be mean as hell.

HRP, rainbow cichlid, dwarf pike cichlids and if you want something mean an mbuna like an auratus or kenyi. In that size tank, only one those type of mbuna.

Yep…tried the whole mbuna community in the 36, it didn’t work for long.
Auratus or zebra are some of the meanest, best looking fish I’ve had.

Ya, definitely not more than one fish if doing one of those type of mbuna in a 36

They grow extremely slow, I think it would be ok for a good two years, probably more. Mine got to be 4.5” in a 120 in 3 years

What kind of flatfish would you go with I know you have named some and I look them up and it said they can live in freshwater but will not thrive
