Fish For Cash

Im in the middle of a large convict cichlid breeding project and a Guppy breading project.

If you have predatory fish, its a better way to save money then to make money. I started out with 5 adult guppys and i have well over 40 now. (4 months later) and i have fed plenty to my preditory fish saving me money.

The convicts i am having trouble with. Even after i move the fry to a growout tank my male still kills the female. Im on female # 3.

But i have yeilded hundreds of fry and they grow very quickly. And they begin breeding at 2.5 - 3" or so.

Jeff Rapps w/ tangled up in cichlids has poecilia gilli, a Nicaraguan molly that maxes out at 5 inch! I'm sure if you were to get those and breed em out you could get a much better price for fry, gilli Molly's aren't common but Molly's in general are easy to breed

Or you could try hybridizing guppys and Molly's, although the fry will be infertile they will fetch a better price

From time to time, new species do pop up that can be bred at home and are fairly expensive. It never fails that people buy them up, start breeding them and all of a sudden the market gets flooded and the price goes down.

Anything that can be bred but which still commands a high price does so for a reason- most people don't have success.

Moved to breeding.
