Setting up a smaller tank for a classroom that I will be teaching til June. Looking for some slow growing future monsters. Moving to home and 180 in mid-June. Tank at school will be either a 38 or 55 depending on funds. Water also has a high pH 7.8 or so.
Thanks for suggestions
Jason

high ph probably someting in the cichlids but it easy to get the ph down to 7.0 with peat in the filter and a peice of bog wood if you did that i would suggest a adonis pleco or another type they all grow slow except the common plec

African mbuna if its a 55g you get lots of color and behavior to discuss and theyll like your water

Id go with certain African cichlids an fancy plecos.

an they get huge after a few years. I hope my friends Fronts breed so I can get afew.

Natives would be awesome, but it's the middle of winter and I don't think that plucking bluegill from frigid water into a room temp tank would be a good idea. Possibly the fronts or dats. I've always wanted some dats and this is a good excuse.
