Fish for my dorm room

Haha, from what you guys are saying it seems like I might be better off to get a heater anyways. Which, I can agree with, after all, most small colorful fish are tropical, and need tropical temperatures.

Or you could always get small native fish. There are plenty of small colorful fish that are native and do well in room temp

I'd say betta would need at least a 7-10g

Gold fish, they really are not a bad fish at all, plus one on air pump with filter

Goldfish in a 5g? Lol ;D

Seriously? I think a lone beta would be very happy in a 5g with some plants.

My betta lives quite happily for the last 2 yrs in a 5 gallon hex... imo I wouldn't get any fish for your dorm.. while the idea is great the reality is .. how many buddies are goign to try and feed it beer or do other assanine crap? Tough out school.. stash away a few bucks.. and get a 75 when you get out. If you saved the money you'de innvest in the 5 gallon in food ect.. you could prolly get yourself a nice tank when you left school. Lame.. I know.

I agreed, a 5gal is perfect for a Betta. A lone betta in a 10gal seems....boring.

Don't be miss negative. IMO getting a fish can keeps a student enteraining while studying for exams. Alot of us have fish tank in their dorm rooms. To my knowledge, nobody try to feed the fishes with crap or beer in the dorms anyways.

I am definitely considering the small planted shrimp tank. That would really be a peaceful, serene environment for studying and concentrating, haha.
