I've been working on the pond, and it's 12longx4.5widex2-3ft deep. It is between 900-1000 gallons, if i make it all 3 ft. deep with a few shallow shelves it can be 1100+. I'm really interested in predators and want to keep natives. I was wondering what you guys would recommend to keep in my pond. I do NOT want koi. I have a more than adequate filter system that keeps the water crystal clear year round with perfect quality. I was thinking a channel cat with some sunnies or bass, or bass with bowfin and bullheads, just anything that is big and predatory, and by big I mean 12 inches +. I live in central Indiana and the pond last year was fine with overwintering bluegills

Atlantic sturgeon. pretty bad ass but hard to find. and look into red tailed catfish. dont know how it would do in cold water though

any yellow perch around where you live? not the most amazing predator but they are super hardy, might wanna go with something like a smb instead

i can go to a hatchery, have a creek in my woods LOADED with bullheads, buy things online, and have one of the best walleye spots 10 miles from my house, little eagle creek resevior, and it gets to about 10 degrees out here in the day on a cold day, and what kind of heater(s) would I get for a rtc? I'm 13 and can make between 50-70 bucks a week, and a grreenhouse idea is not an option. Any fish native is available to me, ill look into yellow perch

If you get one Wells cat, it could actually grow and fill up your pond. After a while, you could leave cat food at the edges of the pond, and the fish could feed itself!
