do walleye

Alligator gar

okay so now it will be either 1650 gallons and 12x6x3 or more likely 12x7x3 at 1850 gallons, if I get a gator I will have more likely a school of 5-6 inch sunnies or a few 8-9 inch sunnies. Will a gator be able to fit in a pond this size?

How about a northern pike? Might get to large. I think they can get to about 4 1/2 feet. Throw in a bunch of bluegill to keep it busy. If it would work it would make for an intresting set up.

I believe that gator gar can survive as long as the pond doesn't freeze over. The temperature is not really the problem, but they are obligate air breathers. Probably better to do the pike. A pike will not out grow that pond. They are pretty sedentary, being ambush predators, and they really only get that big in cold places, like canada and alaska.

Yeah heaters will likely cost you 100s to 1000s of dollars for that amount of water, air bubblers might be your best bet, pike or gar would work with schools of "feeder fish" as a food source

that would be my plan, I can do the bubbler, No way I would try a heater for that much water, my parents would **** haha. I heard incaptivity an alligator gar only gets to about 5 feet. If I could get a gator gar(I have no idea of who the sellers are) I would choose to keep it. If not a pike would be my choice because they are more available. Also could I possibly keep a reg or tiger musky?
