i've been feeding my fish with pellet and cricket but i recently start to feed them with market white shrimp, they start to get very aggressive, especially my silver arowana, he start to chase after all tank mate and bite. i have to move my 10" silver to a spare 10g for the safety of all the smaller fish. should I stop feeding them white shrimp or find a new tank for my silver?

I vote for getting the silver it's own tank. You can't keep a silver in a 10gal. :grinno: You might get by for a little while, but it will surely die on you.

My aro does that too. But so do all the other fish. They will get bold and even try to steal food from the aro's mouth if the shrimp is sticking out. They chase and stuff but dont do any real damage to each other. I wouldnt worry about it too much unless you see damage being done. You could also try cutting a lot up in smaller pieces so while the aro gets the big ones his tankmates could eat the smaller ones. It works for me

Also, I would not keep a 10 inch aro in a 10 gallon.

survival of the fittest. if it could fit in the aros mouth, it eventually will anyway. leave the aro in the bigger tank.

10 gallon tank with a 10 inch arowana?:screwy: Maybe this is the problem. Maybe buy your arowana a 180 gallon tank?

If I remember correctly from your 3am video you have blood parrots, and some other cichlids. As long as they will not fit in the aros mouth they will not be hurt by him. You are doing far more damage to that aro in a 10 gallon than he will ever do to any of those fish. If your aro gets spooked in a tank taht small he could end up smashing his head hard enough to kill him.

BTW do you have plans for a much larger tank? Your aro will need new living arrangments in about 6 months, if not sooner.

my jar is getting more and more aggressive too, i doubt it's because the food though...cuz i feed my jar a variety of food, but i did begin to notice that the florescent lights might be one of the reasons for its behavior. i usually have the lights on til' 10-11, i thought the extra length "day-time" is irritating my jar so i tried turning them off earlier, and it almost stops chasing my two big red hooks insteadly. it still scares the red hooks once in a while, but he's not as half as aggressive as when the lights are on. hope this helps, and try not to keep aros w/small fishes...if u think it has the potential to eat them, it probably will

i took yal advise and move him back to my 75gal, i will try to get my hand on a bigger tank soon, since I just bought two more silver (can't resist it), i think the tank is now overcrowed, i'll post a new video soon

:WHOA: :WHOA: :WHOA: return those two other silvers and get a bigger tank!
