Yea for you! PHEROMONES!!! (Thank you. It was bugging me.) Basically, the same thing as hormones, but they are released into the environment to influence others rather than being released internally.

Good article. Although I haven't found any hard scientific information on a growth inhibiting pheromone, that article you posted really does illustrate the importance of pheromones in the life cycle and behavior of fish.
