Fish hiding? Xilo experience

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes they are doing quite well. All of them are doing the usual "tail swapping", gills flaring, and chasing each other etc. I am seeing some fins damage from fighting, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Hopefully they will change colors for me soon. I can definitely say I have two males, and other two I am unsure of :)

In my expierence they are skittish at first but give them time at around 8" mine started becoming more outgoing. Here is a short vid of him at 11"

Nice male. Its so hard to find someone who keeps this fish. In your experience how old was he when he "peeled"? The ones I have got from OP are at 3-5" and they are still in their juvenile colors. These I understand came from Ken Davis.

Here's one of mine about 10":

So its been 13 days since my first post. I added Giant danios but those seemed to be killed at night. I removed one of the bulbs from my Flouresent fixture to make it less bright. I added a pair of very small convicts. Xilos are still all hiding. I want to do a water change and siphon gravel but am afraid will turn them into bigger panzy's.

I am thinking to remove all decorations during water change and force them out of hiding for a while, not sure what type of negative effects this could have on them.

Xinchavoc- did yours hide alot when it was smaller, almost afraid of everything?
