Amphilophus has some of the best CA Cichlids in it. Nothing beats a nice Midas or Trimac.

Cichlasoma Festae is technically a South American Cichlid but its more of a Central American so I think its fare to throw it in this conversation.

The common name for festae is true red terror.
And the coolest cichlids are umbee IMHO.. firemouths for the coolest small cichlids.

2nd that about the umbee. I also love dovii cichlids as well. It really all comes down to your personal preference. The is no such thing as the coolest cichlid to keep, just the coolest cichlid to you to keep.

Central Americans not south Americans?

Centrals are some of my favorites I prefer parachromis species the most...managuense, red tiger motaguense, freidrichthali, loisellei, dovii.

I also like herichthys and vieja/paratheraps species
