Not to doubt you guys- i know you know your sunfish- but I'm not sure these are pure bluegills. They look a bit redbreast-ish to me, especially the red margins of the dorsal and caudal fins. I wonder if there isn't some mixed parentage.

Bluegills do have red margins, we have them in Minnesota where there are no redbreasts. OP just explained whole situation and what fish are in the lake.....not mentioned that these bluegills have frigging huge eyes! As I'm sure you learned a thing or two from Centrarchid in Nanfa forum. Large eyes and small head suggests the sunfish was stunted as OP explained that there are no huge bass or other predators in the lake.
