Fish ID-bluegill?

I prefer just plain flour with seasoning. Comes out a lot lighter for when you get some really good tasting sunfish and you don't wanna overpower the meat. :)

I stand corrected, that's a pretty weak spot on the dorsal, though. He does have the striping... Bluegill it is. I'd still eat it.
 
For the record, I didn't eat him! I like to catch and release. However, we're moving to the area in a few months and I'm going to set up a 55 gallon tank and stock it with natives and was needing to know what I was catching so I could know what I could keep. I've got native fever...
 
I usually catch and release too, but I can't help having a good fish fry sometimes :D

Good luck with the 55g when you decide to set it up, in Texas you should have a pretty good selection of smaller natives to stock it with.
