fish id? (giant gourami)?

i picked this guy up today, it was sold as a giant gourami. i'm just wondering what type it is.

thats the little "giant" gourami, nothing giant will ever become of that fish.

Nope, looks like a red/gold strain of Trichogaster trichopterus. Also known as a 3 spot gourami.

yea thats the regular blue/ gold thrichogaster..
thats a $4.00 fish u got ripped bud..
it has a serious case of crappy pigmentation...
and theres to types of giant gouramis, ones that get huge and look moonlight or kissing gouramis when young,
then the 4-5inchers which look like upside down colored red dwarf gouramis,
with a paleish upper body and brightly colored red and blue vertical bands that run from the belly and stop up the side( they get really nicely colored)
