Hey guys, I have some guppies that don’t quite look like everyone else. I thought it might be the lone galaxy rasbora (adopted, looking for more friends but they’re hard to find locally)... but then I found two and they did some spawning behavior (in the video).
Are they just wild-type guppies? The stock in there came from a home-breeder and LFS feeder guppies. The hobbyist i received fish from said there were a couple weird ones in there, so maybe he was talking about these. however I think I added those ones to another tank I was stocking.
thanks in advanced for the help.

Can't really get a good look at them, but I'm thinking Gambusia/mosquitofish. Invasive, banned in many places.

Agreed that is looks like mosquito fish, but I’m not certain it’s them. Usually they are bland and just 1 color. I’m thinking least mosquito fish.

They have the body shape of a guppy, but a bit taller (vent to dorsal), and are a tan-ish/gold-ish color vs the typical silver/gray guppy. They have a dark stripe running from behind their gills to about where their dorsal fin is.
honestly I thought guppies and gambusia were the same thing.
probably like the person I bought a “mystery snail” egg case from confused them with apple snails... now I have like 200 baby invasive snails... oof.
I’m pretty sure those are also illegal.

maybe the gambusia would be useful to me. I have about 13 containers growing plants, and feel bad putting guppies in it because it gets cold (relative to their 80F tanks)

I don't think they are Gambusia mosquito fish; they are definitely not Heterandria least mosquitofish.

Perhaps some species of Limia?

They look like young feeder Platy/Swordtails.

could be the feeder guppies I got from LFS were mixed with others. I had baby platys in that tank before (they got moved to the 180gal), they don’t look similar imo. They look like some kind of a barb and guppy got down.

I appreciate all your responses. MFK remains my favorite hobby forum ?
