kind of looks like either a male bluntnose minnow or a bull head minnow. I have male fatheads down stairs and they dont have nearly as much bumps like that on their face and they also have white patches on their sides.

Deffinately not a Chub.

I believe its a Male blunt nose minnow. Black spot on the caudal fin near the base, Breeding male is black with silver bar behind opercle which this one also has.
A male fatheads head is usually very large and they have white/ gold patches on their body, this fish has neither. A bullhead minnow's eye is usually a bit more upward, but this fish's eyes are more central

Owain4...this isn't bluntnose minnow as the fish in question has terminal mouth and the lateral line isn't complete. Bluntnose minnow has subterminal mouth and has complete lateral line. Fathead minnow has incomplete lateral line and terminal mouth so the fish in question is a fathead minnow.

Flathead Minnow aka Rosie Red.

Most people never keep one around long enough to see the adult form. They are an interesting fish to watch. Their breeding habits are very similar to cichlids.

are rosy reds native to texas ? this fish was caught out of a half acre pond that is naturally stocked by whatever flows in when it rains. ill post more pics tonight now that the minnow is acclimated. ive just never seen a minnow with bumps like that on its nose

Thats really weird, I've had many fathead minnows but i've never seen them with that many tubercles??? Is there a reason why some have more then others, sexual maturity maybe???
