Thats really weird, I've had many fathead minnows but i've never seen them with that many tubercles??? Is there a reason why some have more then others, sexual maturity maybe???
Older males will have more tubercles...the fish in question is what a spawning male fathead minnow is supposed to look like that.

are rosy reds native to texas ? this fish was caught out of a half acre pond that is naturally stocked by whatever flows in when it rains. ill post more pics tonight now that the minnow is acclimated. ive just never seen a minnow with bumps like that on its nose

They are native to Texas. And they are widely released beyond native range all over the US. We had them in the area when I lived in Nevada and they are not native to that region.

well the tubercles have gotten smaller and less noticeable it looks like, im guessing because its not spawning anymore but i didnt realize they got that big, thanks for everyones info i appreciate it !
