That's highly unlikely,no fish have been imported from surinam for years.
Surinamensis tends to be used as a catch all name by shops selling what normally is geophagus altifrons.
They do look very close but the spot looks too small for abalios.
They also lack any cheek marks like dicrozoster has.I still think altifrons.
Hmm, didn't know that about surinamensis. That is what they were sold to me as and the source being fairly reputable I assumed they were. You know what they say about assuming though. I'd guess altifrons then as they tend to be common, and of course highly resemble your fish.
