Pelvic fin to LL scales- This fish has two. Brevis would have three.
Adipose fin coloration- This fish's adipose fin has a black tip with a lighter base. Brevis would have a black or dark grey base with a clear outer margin.
Tail fin coloration- This fish has red central radial rays with yellowish intermediary rays. The yellowish intermediary rays are on both the upper and lower lobes. A brevis would have black central radial rays with grey intermediary rays on the upper lobe and red or orangish red intermediary rays on the lowerlobe.
