If the fish origin can not be confirmed, assume hybrid or flowerhorn in this case. It is not unheard of hybrids looking more like one of the original species that it originated from.
 
Definitely showing red under the throat and in the fins. Also has a spot in the front half of the dorsal fin. I see spangling in the red of the fins as well. I'm so excited to watch this guy grow, it's almost as though my inability to correctly identify it is feeding my appreciation of it :)
 
Great stuff, I'm finding this very interesting, I will also post another pic soon as he's more settled now and might look slightly different. As you said asume flowerhorn is probably what I'll have to do tho as cannot trace the background because I bought from a garden centre who said the fish had been recently brought in by someone because it was destroying his tank.

Hahaha! They dig, but in my experience geos are not destructive. Plants will be partially dug out and u just have to spread the gravel back out every couple of days or even once a week. During water changes I just use the gravel vac to redistribute the substrate
