At that size, flowerhorns look very much the same when it comes to body type. They thicken up as they mature, as do Midas/RDs.
From what I can see, it does appear to be a Midas/RD. I say it that way, because it is most likely actually a mix of both. Just about any LFS Midas or RD that you pick up these days, is really a mix of the two...pure fish of either species are really only available through highly reputable breeders. I can see why someone might think it has some FH in it though, from the second picture it does kind of appear to have a similar appearance to one strain of flowerhorn (sorry, don't know what its called), but I think it may just be the picture creating the illusion. Either way, its a cute little fish.
Oh, and as for looking like a GT...it likely was barred when you purchased it, and is going through typical colour changes as it matures. Very common.
