That I would def. agree with and a few other big pet chains are also known for selling hybrid fish... the stripe just looks odd to me ne who its def an African.

It looks like a yellow lab with some bad genetics..

PetSmart is famous for selling hybrid africans in the 'assorted cichlids' tanks.. I always saw these brown/beige labidos there..

so does it have to be in a species tank?? cos it is in with a small Gt and JD, and they are chasing him, them he chases them, what does this mean??? good/bad/indeferent??

Even if you add in other Africans they will do the same thing, but I think its better if you keep sa/ca and african cichlids seprate, but adding in other labs or such would prob be good.

Looks to me like an extremely poor specimen of a Lab. caeruleus. Colour is poor and shape bothers me. Definitely a cross. Such a pity because these fish, wild caught's, are quite amazing in their yellow, almost golden, colour. Try to post a better, clearer pic.
