Mayan cichlid (fake red terror)

that's messed up hobbyists call them that (I wonder who the dumb sob that started that). It's naming fish by favoritism.

Not the Mayans fault some call them both red terrors(human give them names). They are what they are in their own ways nature give them and none is "fake"..

They are different fish and Everyone knows it already by this size as you can see.

Theyre mayans. I also ordered what were labeled as "true festae" from a local stores wholesaler fish list. Ill bet theyre also mayan.

I was on a collecting trip with the owner of a large fish farm in Florida. He supplies a well known vendor on this forum. We were talking fish, and the topic of Red Terror came up. He told me straight up that the fish farmers all call the Uropthalmus "Red Terrors". So likely the store was only putting down what they were sold. It would be different if the fish was labeled A. Festae and that's what you got. Another reason common names on fish can be confusing.

This florida wholesaler has them labeled red terror "true festae" so we will see. The price seem normal. 1" for $15.
