My pair spawned 3 times, then the male killed the female, so he ended up with a guy from our local club that (I believe), put him in a 1000 gal community, and said he was calm there. Same guy also took the 40 or so juvies.

Thinking of adding one to my 300 gallon. The one at my lfs was actually 3 inches and was getting pushed around by a 4 inch jaguar and a 4 inch jack Dempsey. I have seen them really aggressive though. Have you spawned them duanes? I think they're subtly very beautiful. There pattern and red and body shape is fairly unique.

My first impression of yours (Texoscar1) was that it appears to be female.
If you look at the pic of the female I posted, note that instead of spots on the face, there are lines, whereas the males display mostly spots.

Nice score. $5 grammode. I would not trust it in there with the JD though. Grammodes are about as mean as they come.

Very true from what I have read here and online, I will be getting her in her own tank asap!
I'd hate for my jacks to end up dead. The price was to hard to pass up and turns out i'm glad I got it!

Got the one at my lfs at $15 but really neat actually 4inches and a female. Threw him in a 80 gallon with some 4-5 inch marmorata pikes. The Grammode is a lil bugger always trying to pick a fight, the pikes work together to keep him away from their caves and sponge filters cool to watch

Mines really shy, only comes out for food at the moment. Still in the process of getting her tank setup and cycled.
