Interesting I'm growing some out I got in Florida last year, the bigger one is more streamlined like the second pic and the smaller ones are like the first short and stocky I'm guessing a male and female....
 
I was also going to suggest the same thing Sam just posted.
When I had a mated pair in my tanks years ago, the male was very much like the 2nd pic, and female like the first. The dark colors creeping into the dorsal in your first pic, does suggest female to me. And lack of color in the dorsal, body, and different head shape in the 2nd pic, suggest male.
