Can anyone help me I have lost several fish in my tank in the last couple weeks. I find them swimming belly up and they die shortly after that. The last two fish had what appeared to be red spots near the fins and around the body. I have change water several times, test it with test kit and the water is fine. I just recieved 5 baby peacock bass from a friend and want to make sure this doesnt happen to them. One last thing the only fish that survived was my FL gar anyone that has any info please let me know

I have a 55 gallon tank with 5 peacock and 1 FL gar I just looked at the peacocks and they have tiny white specks on them now :(

The white specs are probably ick, raise the tempature to 85 and maybe buy some ick medicine, could be caused by bad water, or stress. How bignare all of the fish?

ich. baby p.bass are tough to raise. salt heat and aeration help and the water is never good enough. in my years p.bass are the only fish i never raised sucessfully

I think Its to late I put the temp at 86 and added salt and Tera Ick guard one the the peacocks is floating at the bottom and the others are crashing into the side of the tank :(

It sounds like ick almost a side effect of something else. I know you said your parameters are good, but just for sanity check can you post them? If your fish were floating belly up and have red spots BEFORE the ich developed than that to me means you may have some other problem. Could be a pH issue, or ammonia? Have you done anything different as far as water changes go? How often do you do them and how much do you change?

That looks like a pretty bad case of ich, i think peacock bass have scales, so id almost double up the dose. If i were you id be doing two 50% water changes a day and keep the temp up, good luck, hope they pull through

And keep treatment up well after symptoms disappear. Ive heard as long as three weeks. Ive done one week after and still had symptoms return
