Is it just me or do you see a difference between a "keeper" a person who raises his pets or someone who is a "buyer". These folks buy fish, post them within in minutes of buying ,then then sell them in a month. What has that person learned, what can they pass on to the real "keepers"..............nothing.

We should have a group here "buyers"

These same folks have never had a certain fish but within minutes of buying one, they are giving out advice about their care, how can they know about their care?

No big deal, but I see this quite a bit, anybody else curious about our "buyers" if you notice fish are not their only buying excursions, it reaches into their whole life. It is a way to buy attention.

Why do you keep track of what other people have/are doing???Worry about your tanks, and maybe post a pic or two of your perfectly cared for specimens...You have been a member for 3 and a half years and 0 pics of your fish or tanks....I am guessing you have the best collection ever....3.5 years and this is thread #4 AWESOME!

Let me hit you with one of your own special one liners......"People buy fish and then sell them, so what?"...............

These same folks have never had a certain fish but within minutes of buying one, they are giving out advice about their care, how can they know about their care?

You seem to miss one very big aspect of the hobby....we NEED suppliers / sellers...unless they proffess to study fish, its very easy for a seller / supplier to stipulate, in their own opinion, what the best needs of a fish are when selling it "within minutes of buying it"...I have never had certain fish, but i am sure i go and look up what the specific needs of a fish require....its called the internet / reasearch....

Yes, there is a big difference between a keeper and a buyer...both aspects of the hobby pretty much speak for themselves...but i fail too see what your issue / rant / whatever is???

LOL..without the seller, where would we buy fish from to show on a forum??

I have seen buyers that know more about their said fish and its needs in a week than some people who have raised them from juvies to adults. You can keep a fish for years but that does not necessarily mean you are providing better conditions or have more/less knowledge than the next guy be it a keeper or buyer. We are always learning. Buyer or keeper? It really doesn't matter. They are both needed attributes of this hobby.

reminds of the thread "koolsomething" opened.... about ppl with 55 gallons should not be here...
anyways...ok,let do a protest, make banners and slogans, make a subforum with name "only keepers,no buyers" and let get it password protected :D
while ur doing it...count me out
and again, some people are giving out advise coz maybee they did learn something in a week or so...and at least they are giving advise and ur complaining about them not being usefull to the "real" keepers
if someone is doing something u are not {like ppl with only 55 gallon tanks,or ppl who buy and sell within a week} all u have to do is ignore it..

When buying a fish, you should already know at least its general care BEFORE buying it, so knowing how to care for a fish within minutes of buying it is a GOOD thing. Obviously, if the information they're giving is crap, that's a different matter entirely. A person could have a fish for 5 years and still give out horrible care information.

We all know someone who's kept goldfish all their lives in little fish bowls. Not realizing the heavy bioload they put out. But hey they've been goldfish keepers for 20 years. They must be experts.

ive noticed as a member for less than a year very few threads and not a wide variety of species kept that a lot of "MONSTER FISHKEEPERS" have monster ego's guys this isnt science clean water good food fish live what is the problem with people expressing their opinions about the fish they bought.... i cant stand all the people who keep aggresive fish together in a sa community tank and talk about dithers being a vital keeping aspect...... i cant stand people who kill fish trying to hybridize..... this site is very useful for its information but a lot of people detour us away the palnted forums out there dont have this hostility other cichlid forums i get your point about keeping fish and understanding them but a lot of kids this is new and exciting they want to be a part of this and imo this site exploits large aggresive fish feeders and not at any point do i see anyone promoting good begginer skills fishkeeping techniques they all go strait to the cichlid threads and talk about getting a huge tank and what can i put in it and feed them goldfish guppies or rose's i think this site needs a begginer section and i think fishkeepers should all have licenses for certain fish it is truely cruel at times and i see a lot from right here
