Knee deep in fish
Well the ray i rescued didnt make it(RIP little guy)but when i removed his body i found two fish lice on him.I ve only ever seen lice on cold water fish w/ scales so is this common with rays

I've seen it on fresh imports and have seen it on retics at some local crappy stores...

I had that happen to me and the Newport aquarium here by us suggested to up the salt in the tank a little at a time. The salt dries out the fish lice. Take any plants drift wood or any statues out. Bleach the plants and statues and let the drift wood dry. Vaccum the gravel really good for a couple of days or until the fish lice are gone. Worked for me. Copper kills fish lice but also rays. Hope it works for you....it did for me.

it killed a motoro of mine a ways back.... they are very hard to get rid off..., still not sure what is the way to do it.... copper kills both and picking them off just doesnt work..., i guess try salt and higher temps...??? its worth a try...

Botias are natural predators of such parasites. I keep a few yo-yo loaches/botia with my smaller rays to handle the problem with new arrivals. Most people like the clowns.
