so i just looked in the tank and i've got fish lice in my 125gallon. i'm pretty positive it came from feeding live goldfish. i've gotten them once before in the 75 gallon along with anchor worms. i used api general cure anti-parasitic fish medication in the 75 gallon and after treatment there are no signs of the problems. thus, i went ahead and am using it again on the 125. a lfs told me after buying the meds, that he used to use copper "scotch" pads by putting them in the tank for about a week. he said it would kill all the parasites and didn't harm the fish as long as he took the pad out after that week. if this is true, it is by far cheaper than the other option. also, since this more than likely came from live feeders, i think i'm going to try to switch back to krill, ect. does anyone have any advice on weening my clown knife off the feeders and get him back onto the safer, more healthy dry food. any and all advise is greatly appreciated.

Never heard of copper pads. Copper is very dangerous to all fish, too much, kills all, not enough, kills nothing. Go buy either formalin or parasite tablets from jungle

In addition to what FRP said I would simply net the fish out and pick those suckers off...

i already knocked the one off that was on the fish, just want to be sure to get rid of any others that could pop up. i guess feeding them live fish for 3yrs, and only having this happen once isn't a bad ratio. still, i'd like to move of live food.

You need to treat your fish with dimilin or trichlorfon. Copper will not work effectively especially as fish lice are well protected in their shells. Dimilin can erode their keratin thus penetrating them easily and killing them in the process.

Neither of the two ingredients is effective for fish lice. That is too weak.
