Common names are useless when it comes to loaches. Not many loaches are very popular. The LFS owner in my place got from a supplier Botia kubotai instead of those from the Syncrossus genus much to my dismay. His supplier insisted those are the tiger loaches. I shook my head in disbelief and the owner was relieved that his suspicion that those are not tigers at all is true and complained about it.
