Fish looking a tad off

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think I just sparked a mini cycle like Peanut_Power stated, I tested my tank today Ammonia down to 0ppm Nitrate is at 10ppm Nitrite still 0ppm.

Ill test again in 2-4days an see how it goes. I mean no ones dying in the tank, no clamped fins or anything, just the heavy breathing, only fish thats not breathing heavy is my green terror thats in hospital tank till his torn fins heal up.

Bummer dude...i hope that things get worked out. Perhaps add some water conditioner.....like Stress Coat or sumptin....;)

stress coat goes in with each water change, Ill prolly put more in to be safe. I also have some Seachem Prime that I use to get rid of chlorine an chloramine.

This might sound stupid, but did you use dechlor? and how much? Sometimes i find myself not putting enough solution to neutralize the chlorine. That's when I notice heavy breathing after a water change. If you use Amquel Plus, use the best guesstimate. I use Sodium thiosulfate, which is the substance used for all the dechlors in the market. I have to make sure the amount is accurate. High level pH could result if the dose is too high.
