Check this out. I have raised three gars since fingerlings. Two alligator gars and a florida spotted gar. Well, I sold one of my alligator gar and moved my other alligator gar into another tank. Since then my spotted gar has not eaten for over 3 weeks and he was a real pig before. He also just mopes on the bottom of the tank. None of the other fish bother him or anything and all other fish in the tank with him eat like mad. Well tonight I decided to move him over in the tank with the alligator gar. Immediately he began swimming with his long lost friend and began eating. Do you think fish miss other fish? I have never experienced this. Anyone else?

Sure. Sounds logical to me. If dogs can miss their owners then why can't fish miss their tank mates?

i had the same sort of ideal with a pacu and a a oscar.... so yes

When I bought my GT's, I was sold on them because they were a breeding pair. Once in my tank, the female jumped ship and bacame carpet jerky. For the next few weeks after, the male was not eating and got all kinds of skinny and lost his kok. He eventually did eat though and is now happy... from what I can see as far as colors and thickness.

I had a 13 yo oscar that had more personality than many of my friends, so yes I would say he missed his buds

i had 5 oscars and a snake head a long time ago and we removed an oscar and all the fish including the snake head all laid down in the corner and wouldnt eat!!!!!! and you all know how big of pigs ocsars are and they just let the goldfish swim around!!!!!
it was very wierd:screwy: :screwy:

i had a pair of ocelaris clowns and the girl died. the boy refused to eat and just sat in the corner. in the end i had to give it to my friend with heeps of clownfish in his tank. not sure if he found a new mate tho

My fish eat no matter who gets moved, they don't give a crap.

my large 8.5" JD used to have a female JD tankmate (see gallery) that he used to chase around all the time, when the female died, the male JD lost all his aggression and now lives happily and peacefully with 10+ goldfish and a pleco
