Fish must get more fish...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
^^You have a point...I thought about this too...once I get the new house, my lease on this one will not be done. So i thought about, originally, get the big big tanks, set them up at the new house, cycle them and get them all ready. Then just move the fish into the larger tanks. The small platies and other critters would still go in their 10g tanks. But for my cichlids and sharks and puffers...I was gonna get several large tanks and set those up, then move the fish over. Then I would have 4 empty tanks...to get MORE FISH!! lol.

that sounds like a good plan

i am in a similar situation i have to leave for college soon, and my room is now looking like a lfs lol tanks everywhere where there is room. and i was offered a 90g for my bday on april 8th from my parents. and i think im just gunna go with it, then ill deal with moving all my tanks when the time comes.. untill then im just gunna enjoy my fish store haha

good luck on your choice though. you know my advice =)

ps, im going to the lfs today and i can almost bet im walking out with 3 jack dems haha. and i have to pick up a new net cus my fish are beginning to look at my net like its a joke . wish me luck on not blowing my life savings ahaha

I am the same way you are. I have lots of tanks now, and want more and more. I do suggest you try really hard to wait.
My reasons? You will be moving your babies. The stress and work involved will be hard on you and the fish. Plus, you might recycle. The $ involved in moving all of them, even with movers, will be costly. If you wait, you will be able to save the money and get better stuff when you are settled.
Also, think of waiting and getting bigger better stuff as your reward.
Remember....movers are doing a job. People doing a job like that don't really care about your stuff. If it gets knocked around or damaged...they don't care. You run the risk of getting all those lovely things and having something broken or damaged in the move. Imagine getting to your new home and then finding that one or more of your brand new tanks has been cracked and you have to replace it. Or, worse yet, you risk a stress on a new tank and finding out in the middle of the night that it had been stressed as you are sucking up all the water.
Hope this helps. I know exactly how you feel with wanting them. But, in the long run, I believe waiting will be better. You will have a good idea once you are moved of how much room you can work with, and maybe you will find you can get more in then you thought, maybe you might find it is an inch short.

Let us know how it works out with the move. :)

Another thought is this: Think about what you want, get the tanks and stuff, but don't set them up.

All I have room for, as far as a big tank, is a 150g. More than that, I can't fit it anywhere lol. I guess thats another reason why I have many of the smaller tanks. I know it's expensive to move things, I am prepared for all the costs so I am not worried. I am going to move all the pets and fish myself. I don't really trust ppl lol.
Not a whole lot of the furniture is coming with me, I am buying everything new for the new house. The tanks im gonna get for the new house are gonna be a lot bigger...what I have wanted for a while now. I'm gonna set those up and let them run and cycle, then when I move I can just move the fish and place them in the bigger tank. Then come back for the smaller tanks. Set the smaller tanks up and get more fish LOL. :)
Glad to know though, I am not the only one who can't seem to resist getting more fish and tanks and so on hehe.
