Fish noob with bichir questions

Lol don't worry about it, they're interesting fish and unfortunately mislabeled fairly often, you're probably going to get bitten by the bug just like I was. Have fun researching. Looked at the pics I have of him on my phone, his upper jaw protrudes. And he looks a lot like Dino! I just told the guy I got him from he is probably a Senegal but he is convinced he's a Congo. Either way, in fascinated by this species. I love just watching him, he is super social and always comes up to front of tank when I come over.

Because my tank is planted and I need an algae eater, should I go with an oto instead of some cherry shrimp? Also I'd say he is closer to 4" than 3" like I originally stated.

An oto would be a snack. Try a bristlenose.
