Fish of the Río la Silla in northern Mexico

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thank you. And yes, there are lots of Tilapias here, but I don't bother with them.

But there are some other Cichlids and Tetras (sth. like brycon around 20cm) here aswell. I will try to catch and present them, however its easier said then done. I also have some underwater footage I want to present in the comming days.

Very cool. Were you able to take the fish you caught back to Germany? Were you cast or seine netting?

I was fishing with a regular nett like you use for getting hooked fish out of the water and a fishtrap.

I don't think I can export/or transport these fish as a regular person.

I put some of the livebearers I caught in an Aquarium I set up here, and they honestly have even greater colours than the ones in the fotos. I just did the big mistake of putting in some fish I bought in a store here, they gave me an instant ichty plague. I thought I got rid of it with 30°C Water, but this weekend, after 2 weeks they came back :(

I will post fotos when they are healthy again.

One of the biggest problems I run into, collecting wild fish, are the parasites.
In nature one may not be problematic, but once in the closed system of a tank, they become epidemic, unless a lengthy QT is employed.
Here in Panama, the Characins sometomes get riddled with Lernaea, that spread rapidy within the walls of a tank.
