Just want some General opinions here. I ordered 3 catfish listed as 2.5"-3." When I opened the delivery, the 1st one was chubby, about 2.5". The 2nd one was average weight, about 2.25". BUT the 3rd one was very thin and was alive but seemed off balance in the bag. It did my routine drip, a bit of seachem safe, and an airstone in a 5 gallon bucket. The littlest one was swimming and floating around but still breathing. It died. When I measured it, it was only 1.8" long, and rail thin. I will not disclose the vendor but I just want some respective, constructive opinions. Considering these are wild caught fish, AND I fully accept the risks of receiving fish in the mail, I don't have a problem with the fish coming to me 1/2 dead. But I am upset at the size of that fish, and how thin it was. Would you be upset at the vendor?

Yea i would email the vendor and tell them how you feel. Most will be decent about issues with orders.

I would be very PO with the false advertised size alone. Get pictures of those fish, including a measurement tape next to each of them.

I did take those exact photos. I called them, they said they would work with me, get a full or partial credit not refund. But, I lose my shipping of course. The other two fish are doing ok. But, I have never raised such tiny catfish. Big difference between under 2" and 3" when it comes to raising fish. Damn.

I would get at least that 1 that passed replaced and to save on shipping ask if you can get him on the next order you place

I would take the refund, and never do business with them again. I would also call them out on this forum.

Sorry this hsppened to you, John

If you felt the fish was undersized or sickly the first thing you do is take pictures of the fish and measure them. Unfortunately when dealing with the internet you have to be able to prove yourself and in defense to the vendors that support our community many of them have to fight back against fraudulent charges. I do not know who your vendor was but most of the vendors on here are extremely reputable and go the extra mile to support their customers. I suggest you try to work this out with them one on one first before blowing it up on the forums.

Sounds like the refund/credit policy is standard across many of the vendors. Loss of money for shipping is also standard. Different from dealing with in person LFS but that is what it is. Accept the risk or dont buy fish online.
