Fish poo

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Don't feed them anymore, feeding causes unpleasent side effects like growth and waste production ;)

Seriously, you think you have problems? I just finished repeatedly flushing my monitor lizards "bucket o'sh*t" down the toilet lol.

Actually some decaying feces or other rotting stuff is required to feed the beneficial bacteria in the filter however if you ensured 0% waste in the tank you wouldn't need beneficial bacteria I suppose? Not as much anyways . You dont need to remove fish feces every 2 - 3 days either unless youre keeping really sensitive fish in a small environment. One 25% change per week is enough for most setups.

Yup, this is true. In addition, the fish excrete water-soluble bile and digestive constituents when they defecate and my sense is that this goes a long way to supplying the bacteria with carbon, nutrients, etc.

like SimonL said if you don't want feces then don't feed or get rid of JK. you use a vac like the one you use for water changes and suck up the poo.
