yes but he is doing fine in the normal temps

Puffer is telling you that it will not do well for long in "normal" temperatures and needs cold water.

I stated it should be your last fish for two reasons.

1. You will have 4 large fish for a tank that size. You will be overloading the filtration and struggle to keep water quality high with more fish than you have. The fish also will most likely be stressed if there are too many of them(this also factors into number 2). Niger Triggers get very large and long term need an even bigger tank than an 85 gallon. This is the main reason you should not stock anymore big fish. You could possibly add a small fish or two, but they MUST stay small through adulthood.

2. Also, Clarkiis and Niger Triggers are aggressive and other fish that get added to that small of a tank will probably get harassed because there isn't enough territorial space.

I know it may seem like you have a very large tank, but when placing large fish in a small space we must be careful. I have a 210 gallon tank and when my stocking is all said and done I will have 4 fish that get over 6 inches and a school of Chromis and that is it. This should give you an idea of a long term strategy that will lead to success. Putting in more fish than that makes it significantly harder to maintain.

Exactly! Their long-term survival is our goal, right?
I know it may seem like you have a very large tank, but when placing large predatory fish in a small space we must be careful.

guess you were right woke up this mprning and cant find my lrage shrimp in the tank anywhere. my lfs told me that because the shrimp ha been in tank for a year that the niger triger would be okay. i guess ive tried to research and i think i do my homework then i listen to my lfs and come and post here for help but i think most lsf have maybe one or two that are knowleage and others are telling you for the sale. so what do i do i try and i thought i do will keeping alive and dont rush and take my time stocking
maybe time to just give it up

Or just stick around & do it right! :)

+1 Don't give up.

Keep doing research and plan an intended stocking plan for us to help you with. List all the fish and invertebrates that you want to have in your tank when all is said and done. Then we will go through the list and tell you what will work and won't work for your intended setup. If you do it this way and get it right it will be very rewarding and you work have the heartache like you are having now. We have all been where you are at, but I have learned from it and taken better care of my tanks because of it.

i guess the trigger was wrong thing maybe ill see if they want him back at the lfs. i know theyll take him back for free lol

You should be able to get some sort of in store credit for him. If not try putting him on Craigslist, someone should pay you at least something for him.
