Fish Rescue Failure

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Cromwell lol like Oliver?

Yes, Oliver Cromwell the Roundhead. ;)

He earned this name by displacing Mojo as the king of the cichlid tank, undermining my ornaments by moving gravel, and laying waste to my aquatic plants.

He was almost 5" and quite thick when I bought him.

I remember an auratus we had when I was a kid. Probably would have been 1984 or so.
Maybe even the first cichlid I ever kept.
Didn’t know a thing about this fish then.
Mean lil booger out lasted everything else in the tank.
It’s sad, but part of the hobby.
Sorry for your loss.
Btw Maynard looks like a female. Not that it matters.
Dayumm you been keeping fish for a loooooong timd

My mother always had gold fish so I guess it just come from there.
The first memory of fish that I can clearly remember I was about 6.
I’m 46 now.
I guess keeping fish that were totally mine that I picked and bought I was probably 10.
I hauled wood and cut grass to earn fish money.

im right there with you! 47 now got my fist tank at 7 or 8. dad had fish when I was growing up. I had a paper route and also mowed yards to support my hobby. I've always wondered how many have the same story. sorry for the hijack....

My mom used to sell tropical fish as a young adult, but we never had them.

I was mowing yards and delivering papers back in the late 1960's, but I spent my money on model airplanes, rockets, bicycle gear, electronic parts and phonograph records. I couldn't have an aquarium because of my Dad's job. We traveled around way too much.

I didn't get my first little 10g from Whitie's Pets until 1975. I was 20 years old.

I was working with a fancy HP calculator (programmable!) at a drafting table, drawing trusses and walls and pe-fab things made of lumber. I'd been pumping gas and fixing cars during school, but this was my first engineering job. To celebrate, I bought some guppies and a gourami.

45 years later . . . .

We have had this current house for 18 years, and it's been paid off for years. We own a hundred fish now, but half of them are just guppies and mollies. The rest are mostly rowdy cichlids and Mooneyfish.

I wish you all such fun.

Nice to see so much passion around this hobby, i was 8 years old when i got my first tank, used to walk home, instead of going on the bus, saved bus money to buy fish??.
