Closer look at the pumps and the filter section. Still clear so far 2 months and counting. The Filter mats was cleaned each week with water from the pond.

This was done using a small plastic tub. After cleaning they were put back into the filter sections and the water was then topped back to replace what was used during the cleaning.

If you look closely you should be able to see the pumps rating in watts, one on the left is 135W and the one on the right 70 watts. The flow rates are also printed on the same place. Current height of the water exit is about 1 meter above the filter water level.

There are 3 types of water plants that are being tried out to clear up the dissolved organic waste. Water Hyacint, Water Cabbage and the One leaf Duck Weed.

The water hyacint did not survive.

Further Pictures of the Fishes which consists of Asian Arowanas (6) Pacus, Cichlids, Gold Fishes, Jewel Cichlids, Mosquito Fish (Guppies), Swordtails and the usual few plecos. This was taken on 18 October.

Looking at the last picture you should be able to get an idea of the Pacu sizes. The small fish are the Jewel Cichlids at 1" to 2 ". You can see the clarity of the water from these photos. Which was take with the sun shinning overhead the pond. The water is about 35" deep here. You can just notice the surface ripples in the photo.

Next up final shots of the Filter with all the dirt deposited. Contrast that with the initial photos of the clean filter mats.

The Filter Section which needed to be cleaned weekly. This is where all the smaller fishes are. You should be able to see the filter mat initial clean slate versus the brownish set which have to be cleaned each week.

The cleaning have to be done as after about a week the water level between the different sections rises to more than 2" higher. Probable will have to take a few photos of this to illustrate later.

Till then have a great day.

Have you tried any other plants that are not floaters (Ancharis, Hornwort, Java's, etc.) to remove wastes and clean water?
