AW7020, have you heard of aquaponics? This might be the filter you've been looking for. Aquaponics is basically using fish water to feed vegetables in raised gravel beds. I think there is a thread in the DIY section from Hellbent about a plywood aquaponic system he built. You can also visit his aquaponics forum at www.aquaponicsinparadise.com. It's a Hawaii forum and since you live in Malaysia I figured we have similar weather.
Your whole system looks great. I wish we could get asian aros in the states but silvers aren't half bad. Good luck with everything.

Thanks for the reference.

Tried that few years ago - the aquaphonics thing that is. imho i am too lazy to maintain the system.

at the moment the current indoor pond is very understocked with only the 6 aros and lots of feeder fishes. the other fishes which were in there with the aros were given away to a friend with a large outdoor pond.

The filter side of the pond have gone through a few revisions and now it do very well with minimum maintaince which is done now about once every 3 months.

Next post will post some of the pictures taken this morning of the pond to give you an idea of the conditions and the aros.
cheers.

Some of the photos from the year 2008 in contrast with the photos taken in July 2010 of the filter section.

First picture is the initial filter section
The second one show the current filter after the glass partitions were removed.

In the second pic You can see that the glass partitions have been removed and replaced with plastic pvc tubing made to retain the filter materials. you can also see the supply of feeder fishes that are in the section. On the back of the filter wall you can see some of the remains of the algae build up after a bit of cleaning was done.

A few view of the current aros with the cleaning crew in attendance. Will have to get a better photo later as this was rather fuzzy as the lighting was a little dark for the little canon camera used to take those shots.

A few plastic stacking cartons was also use to divide up the large pond area into a few smaller compartments yet still allowing the arowanas to freely swim and mingle. The water depth now is about 30 inches. You can see the cleaner fish clearly right down to the pond floor.

The plastic stacking cartons which was used to provide a bit of shelter or hiding places as the arowanas are now fully grown and pretty agressive with each other.

There is also another two black round tanks to store rainwater for cleaning and the occassional top up for the pond. The larger unit is 400gallons and the smaller one is 200 gallons when full
