Fish stock question

If you decided on an outdoor pond i would suggest getting a sterlet. I think you would need something much bigger than 2000 gallons to house a fully grown wels catfish. It would also eat everything in your pond. If you stocked a sterlet you would still be able to add other smaller fish to your outdoor pond without any worries.

Sterlet is my next option after the catfish. Id love to own a sturgeon. The 2,000 gallons is just a rough estimate for now it's almost a minimum I may go up to a 3,000 if I have enough space. I know that Wels grow to monster proportions in the Ebro River in Spain but in their native waters not as big. I got to thinking if I just keep the water at 74 degrees and below it won't grow as quickly and possibly not as big. In germany a big fish is around 50-60lbs and around 6ft which I should be able to house in my pond.
