Considering your 14 (As am I, and lets be reasonable here, you arent going to open up a shop without a heck load of cash), why dont you get a job at a LFS and holpefully stay there for a few years. Usually 2-3 years in, you could be in charge of the shipping/products on floor/livestock list etc. All this will be much more fun then going through the potential stresses of opening one up yourself.

I think the best thing to do is go find a job at a lfs and then when you are ready you can start up your own one.
But keep in mind you are 14 it will be at least 10 years until you are ready to start your business.
The Market will change.

I dont know about your part of the world, but here it's possible to work part time and do courses in small business management, accounting etc. Either as a part time student or remote learning (mail and internet).

By living at home, working part time and studying you aren't building up any dept but are gaining the skills (theory and practical) you will need if you are going to run a business yourself.

Even if your plan doesn't work out, having experience in a retail shop AND a diploma in business management makes you employable in all sorts of other jobs.

It's also possible to do University study later, you may be able to get credit for a previous Diploma and skip some of the early courses.

Your Mom just wants you to make the best of yourself, College may be a good option, but it it doesn't appeal to you then present a sensible alternative. Get a job, live at home for while, study part time is an option.
