Fish store employees... My god

Speaking of dumb people, my sister and I were at Walmart tonight and looking at the fish, I made the comment that Pacu's get way too big for the home aquarium, and a customer looked at me and said, "They only get as big as the tank", I said oh, I don't think so and she gave me this really stupid look. You know I could of went on for days about how Walmart sells fish that they have no business of selling. And get this, the tag on the pacu tank said they grow to only 10". I looked at that and laughed. I told my sister how bad I wanted to go off on that lady but I didn't want to make a big scene so we just left. Just reminds me of how "STUPID" people really are when it comes to fishkeeping.

I always make it a point to embarass people who say fish grow to the size of the tank.
I will speak quietly then I say "You're right, they grow to the size of the tank and then they DIE A SLOW HORRIBLE DEATH" carry on with your conversation and usually a few people will be staring. Its great

i was going to get a dwarf puffer for my new tank but i went to the fish store and was walking around just looking at some fish to start my cycle with... and i got these really small orange fish... i forget the name but they are so cute (im not ***) i got two of them and i think ill get some more in a week or so... they are in the tank i put pictures of in the black sand thread

Mollies and platys are cool if thats your thing. Personally, I like tetras for community tanks. My favorites are rummynose tetras and neon tetras for color.

I talk to this quy in a MFk forma who has a rTC, by the look of the color pattern/and texture of the Rtc. my guess he was saying it was ok to see and own a monster RTC fish in a standerd 18inchWifth. I told him about a true story where a guy who had 5 large fish species broke his tank. and a fish can end up dieing from stress by not eating. i seen it before with my own eyes!

Oh... and for pacus Info the can start 2-3inches and be a foot long in 10months!

I work at a fish store and some customers are very dumb. Like not telling me what kind of fish they have or what size tank they have even though I ask them these questions. Not all people who work in a fish store are dumb.
