The ones in my LFS have roses "tattooed" on them. very sad
Whats the story with the parrots?

BRAVO! you're so lucky. When i get my license, I'm definitely going store hopping at least once a week! Great idea man. BTW, on a side note, i shivered when I saw the artificially colored parrots. That was pretty disturbing, but other than that, bravo!

I believe they are hybrids in the first place, but people are dying them and actually somehow tattooing them with patterns. I don't know how it's done or too much about it but I know it is painful for the fish and is really cruel and inhumane. I will try to remember to take pictures next time I am in seattle's chinatown (that is where they have them) and show them to you
