Hey everyone, thanks a lot for all the advice.
I decided to give it until tonight... I had already pulled the jaguar out three times and didn't want to stress the guy out too much in a short period of time..
alas, there was no change, not enough after 48 hours.. and he wasn't looking too happy.. thrashing about, swimming into the glass, etc.
the convict was still lodged in basically the same spot and hadn't moved much at all, so I grabbed some needlenose pliers like you guys suggested and some very small scissors and went at it with determination...
I had to cut the convict up pretty bad... she was in three pieces when i was done... but thankfully I managed to completely avoid injuring the jag
he currently has some major lock-jaw going on but I think he'll be fine.
