Fish stuck in Jaguar's mouth

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hey everyone, thanks a lot for all the advice.

I decided to give it until tonight... I had already pulled the jaguar out three times and didn't want to stress the guy out too much in a short period of time..

alas, there was no change, not enough after 48 hours.. and he wasn't looking too happy.. thrashing about, swimming into the glass, etc.
the convict was still lodged in basically the same spot and hadn't moved much at all, so I grabbed some needlenose pliers like you guys suggested and some very small scissors and went at it with determination...
I had to cut the convict up pretty bad... she was in three pieces when i was done... but thankfully I managed to completely avoid injuring the jag

he currently has some major lock-jaw going on but I think he'll be fine.

Thanks again.

Good! I think your fish must be grateful that you got that fish out. Poor convict R.I.P female convict.

Good you got the convict out. Bet that was stressful for both of you. Somtimes that big jag mouth just gets them into trouble.

Great news! Lets see some pics of that guy!! not the convict. Good job dude.

Yeah, I've noticed that when Im careful or "soft", then I dont get it done....when I cut to the chase and not care about hurtubg the fish then its actually for the better. Its like playing tackle football and cringing everytime you get hit, or playing like your gonna rip someone's head off. It just gets the job done.

My female jag tries to eat everything !! I learnt my lesson about 8 months ago when I thought a 5 inch long livingstonii could stay with her temp .... Big mistake she thought it was a feeder ! Anyhow it was lodged in her mouth for three days and she eventually spit it out . I will never house anything larger than 7 with her again
