Fish have an extremely strong instinct to bite whatever they see floating. That is why you sometimes see them eat and spit, eat and spit, until it leaves their field of vision. But you have to sympathize with the fish. Can you imagine if you were unable to stop yourself eating some poop you saw on the floor. It's harsh.

I find that kind of hilarious too.

:lol3: :iagree:

If that was true then we would all look like this guy.:smurf :yuck:

I've had many bichirs and different size gravel to sand. I see them inhale pieces (especially bichirs that just inhale food) of rock, and sometimes it comes back out sometimes it doesn't. Now, I figured this might happen in nature and if they die, they die, thats life, wouldn't want to damage my fish even more trying to get a piece of rock out.

I had an RTC once that would inhale gravel with its food. Later its giant turds would be peppered with large pebbles like corn in human crap.

  I love it when that happenes to me.

My clown loaches are intelligent enough to tell the diff between gravel and tasty food. So do any other fish.
