Anyone use a fish tank as a bed headboard? any pros and cons. It seems like a cool idea to me, maintenance would be a little tricky, dont want fishy water on the bed, but I think it should work if I were to try it, any thoughts?

only down sides i can think of would be the fish splashing you in the middle of the night, and a freak accident when having a bit to much fun in the bedroom. if you get my drift but besides that i cant think of any. i cant speak from experience

There are some threads here that discuss that cool idea:

Thanks, there was one I really liked, he made a custom stand to fit a 55 nicely behind his bed, mine would not go all the way across, id have a few inches on each side of the bed, thats the only downfall I can see looks wise, it probably wouldnt look as nice, but I might try it, Im moving into a smaller apartment and wont have many options on where to keep the tank and having it as a headboard seems like a decent option

I think this is a classic example of an idea that sounds cool until you do it and have to live with it every day. Regular tank glass for a standard 55g is pretty thin. It wont withstand too many bumps. Think about making your bed, tank maintenance, throwing your bag on the bed when you come in, sex, parties, nightmares, noise, stressing your fish with constant movement, smells, etc. Do you have a pretty unique stand? My old 55 (&all othertanks I have had) had doors on front of stand and only other access was from behind which means leavig a gap between tank and wall, leaving stand empty, or moving bed to do maintenance. It would def be cool, just very impractical and potentially dangerous to you and your fish. Hate to be the bubble burster.

Damn You lol, true I hear ya man, if it comes down to this or nothing then I will go for it but I think I can find a better place for it, if it was with my 150 it would probably work out a lot better.

Great idea, would look awsome but lujor makes a lot of sense. Plus you really couldn't look at the fish unless you laid on your stomach.
