definetly do it, some older tanks are built to not have a center brace with thicker glass but this odviously has had one and needs one that works so do it... If it was a small tank(35-40 gallons or less)you could probibly get away with it but you have a big tank...

Wow, that's a lot of bowing for glass. Consider yourself lucky it didn't break! I would consider beefing up the support beyond just adding new silicone. Do you have any pics? was the tank modified or recently purchased?
