I already sent email about me wanting to go with ultima 2-1000.I would tell them you want to run the ultima and let them worry about hole placement. I like a scaped tank and dislike bare bottom.

How would I design it for ultima 2-1,000? Overflow should be at 1 end of aquarium and return on the opposite end. 1-1/2" sizing for overflow and 1-1/2" return. I would like to see a drawing with dimension and everything. Im trying to get confirmation that the ultima 2-1000 would be enough filtration by itself for 350 gallon aquarium. Bulkhead placements and all. Can I use substrate and what kind. Or do I need bare bottom aquarium? I want to do this right the 1st time. All my other aquariums are nice. But no where near 350 gallons. I'm running canister and hob filters.
This is what I do also. But if they are making the tank and sounds like limited knowledge might as well let the pros do it.If youre serious about a closed loop for an ultima, i would just have ftd make you the basic tank with no overflows or any options, then drill all the holes yourself. Acrylic is very easy to drill imo and there are many ways to set up a CL. In the meantime while the tank is being made you can continue to research and figure out what would be the best placement for your inputs and outputs.
Again, this is just what i would do and i lean diy heavy when setting up tanks these days.

FTD is going to fit aquarium with sump and ultima 2-1000. That should be enough filtration. If youre serious about a closed loop for an ultima, i would just have ftd make you the basic tank with no overflows or any options, then drill all the holes yourself.
